Stone Sour – Come What(ever) May

Wenig neues in den letzten Tagen und Wochen .. Musik höre ich trotzdem und da gibts ne Band die mir immer besser gefällt auch wenn sie erst 2 Alben rausgebracht haben. Ich spreche von Stone Sour. Die Band des Slipknot Shouters Corey Taylor.

Und speziell von dem Album Come What(ever) May aus dem Jahr 2006. Das man am ehesten in erdigen Hard Rock / Alternative Metal einordnen könnte.

Ich bin ja echt kein Fan von amerikanischem Hardrock .. der ist mir zu maskulin ohne Abwechslung ohne Ideen ohne Atmosphäre. Aber Stone Sour sind hier echt ne glorreiche Ausnahme. Klar wächst einem nen Bart wenn das Album hört .. man steht nach 20 Sekunden knietief in Testosteron .. aber trotzdem ist die Scheibe extrem kreativ und variantenreich.

1. 30/30-150
Rockt wie Sau .. geht nach vorne und durchbricht Stahlbeton.
Fette Gitarren, Fette Riffs.

2. Come What(ever) May
Der Titeltrack geht genau so ab wie 30/30-150 mit etwas mehr Melodie und Gefühl.
Fette Gitarren, Fette Riffs.

3. Hell & Consequences
Mit ordentlich Druck gehts hier los .. ein totales Brett.

4. Sillyworld
Hier nehme sie mal nen Gang raus. Es geht wie melancholischer Rocksong los.
Schöner Refrain.

5. Made Of Scars
Geile Idee und witziger Text .. drückt nicht so wie 1,2+3 aber trotzdem ein genialer Song und nix für Warmduscher.

6. Reborn
Mit Wut! Drückt einem den Schmalz wieder in die Ohren zurück.
Taylors Stimme mal als Growl und dann wieder klar.
Genial.

7. Your God
Okay es muss auch schwache Lieder geben .. bei den meisten anderen Bands wäre es aber trotzdem
ein Highlight. Bei vielen so geilen Songs fällt dieser eben raus.

8. Through Glass
Supergeile Ballade. Ruhig und Taylors tolle Stimme kommt hier voll zur Geltung.
Auf dem Bike singe die immer lautstark mit … streck die Arme und mach nen Engelsflug
Remember it’s just different from what you’ve seen …

9. Socio
Eine geniale Hookline, mit Druck und nem fetten Refrain.

10. 1st Person
Vielleicht auch nicht ganz so stark wie die anderen Tracks. Geht trotzdem gut ab mit viel
Wut und Aggression im Bauch!

11. Cardiff
Ruhigere Midtemponummer. Schöner Song.

12. Zzyzx Rd
Ein absolutes Highlight zum Schluß. Nochmal eine Ballade getragen nur von einem Klavier und ein bischen Schlagzeug.
Der Mann kann einfach singen und hat ein wahnsinniges Gefühl für seine Stimme. Allerdings ein sehr trauriger und melancholischer Song:
